Causes of High Blood Glucose levels in the Morning

As we all know that diabetes is a dangerous disease which is wide spread nowadays. The main source for diabetes is increased blood glucose or blood sugar levels. The glucose level in our body is calculated by the amount of glucose in our blood. The food we intake will be converted to glucose and it is carried to the cells by blood to produce energy. This blood sugar must be maintained with the help of insulin secreted by pancreas and if this insulin is not adequate the blood sugar will not be converted to energy that will lead to causes of high blood sugar levels.

If the diabetic patient who take very high nighttimes insulin or do not eat adequate snack before bed time will lower blood glucose levels and the hormones are released to increase blood glucose levels.

It is must for everyone to visit their doctors to perform proper blood glucose monitoring habitually. The causes of high blood sugar are a serious problems and it should be assessed in the early stage to avoid diabetes and maintain normal blood sugar levels in the body to live healthy. Monitoring blood glucose levels will help us to differentiate the type of high blood glucose rise in the morning and obtain medications depending on it. If the diabetes blood glucose is normal or high during monitoring then it is of dawn phenomenon and if the glucose level is low it is of Somogyi phenomenon.

Depending on the causes of the high blood glucose levels our doctor suggests medications and advices like altering the type of insulin taken in the evening (long-term or short-term), increasing the insulin dosage in the morning, taking insulin overnight, eating lighter breakfast, using insulin pump to release extra insulin in the morning, consuming nutritious diet habitually, performing adequate exercise etc. For better results to control diabetic sugar levels it is vital to follow all these suggestions.
